Location

Shepherds Cottage is situated in a beautiful and peaceful location on the Lochcarron Estate, Ross-shire, Scotland.

It is less than a 2 hour drive away from Inverness Airport, with the Applecross Peninsula 45 minutes away, and 5 km away from the nearest resident neighbour.

There is a 1 km private track leading to Shepherds Cottage.  The track is kept in excellent condition and although a 4×4 vehicle might be preferable it is certainly not essential and access for regular cars is fine.

Directions

From Inverness

Take A9 towards Dingwall over Kessock Bridge. 1st roundabout take A835 towards Ullapool.

2nd roundabout continue on A835.

Just beyond Garve turn left on A832.

After 16 miles reach Achnasheen.  Then take one of the following 2 options (Option A is slightly shorter, but Option B is more scenic!)

OPTION A

Go Left on A890, becoming the A896 through Lochcarron to Kishorn.  Drive on through Kishorn (past the Seafood Bar).  Carry on for approx 6 miles (directly past the Applecross junction and on past the big White house in the trees).  Shepherds Cottage is on the right side of road down by the loch at end of track, just after Glasnock house. There is a sign at top of track saying ‘Glasnock house’, just go down the track and shepherds cottage is behind Glasnock at the very end, over the 2nd bridge.

OPTION B

Continue on A832 to Kinlochewe. Turn left on A896 past Torridon and Shieldaig.

Approx 8 miles south of Shieldaig you will see Shepherds Cottage down by the Loch on the left side of the road.   There is a sign at top of track saying ‘Glasnock house’, just go down the track and shepherds cottage is behind Glasnock at the very end, over the 2nd bridge.
